Consistent quality chemistry leads to consisted results in collodion wet plate. UV photographics is my only source of LI that I use. Note: this stuff is VERY hygroscopic and will eventually turn into a liquid in the jar from moisture in the air, unless kept very air tight and in a cool dry place.
Lithium Iodide combined with Lithium Bromide makes for an ultra-fast collodion mix. Easily a stop faster than Ol workhorse etc. Fresh mix is as fast as other collodion mixes, then after 3-5 days it takes off. It lasts about 6-8 weeks before slowing down. After 3 months, it's slower than the baseline. So, if you expect to use this stuff up quickly, it's a no-brainer to mix with these chemicals and shorten your exposure times and/or extend your flash power.
