UVP X Salted Collodion

Fast. Stable. Easy to Develop. Built for Portraits.

Available ready to shoot or as a two-part kit, UVP X is trusted by many of today's professional wet plate photographers for its consistent performance and beautiful tonal rendering.

Developed for speed, stability, and ease of use, UVP X is a modern cadmium-based collodion designed for producing tintypes, ambrotypes, and glass negatives. Its carefully balanced formula delivers excellent sensitivity, broad tonal range, and reliable results throughout its working life.

Stored in a cool, dark place, UVP X maintains excellent working characteristics for 6–12 months, allowing photographers to work with confidence from the first plate to the last.

The slightly elevated bromide content produces rich tonal separation that is especially well suited for portraiture, while the image develops with excellent visibility, making it easier to judge development and consistently produce beautiful plates.

Fast, low contrast collodion perfect for strobe lighting

Posted by Ross McLennan on Nov 19th 2019

I shoot single source aluminium type wet plates and I find the contrast perfect from a freshly opened bottle of UVP-X collodion with my f4.5 Wollensack lens and a 9600ws strobe

    UVP X Premixed

Very happy I tried this formulation! It give rich tonalities, is easy to read when developing, fixes well with rapid fix. In a side-by-side comparison to ODB, UVP X was ever so slightly faster. The response to natural light, CFL hot lights and studio flash is excellent.

    It rocks!

Great mix with great shelf life! It is fast and it lasts. I have some from almost a year ago and it's still going strong. I love not having to mix my own. Even if I did, it would not be this good and consistent. Very cost effective also.
