UVP X Salted Collodion

Fast. Stable. Easy to Develop. Built for Portraits.

Available ready to shoot or as a two-part kit, UVP X is trusted by many of today's professional wet plate photographers for its consistent performance and beautiful tonal rendering.

Developed for speed, stability, and ease of use, UVP X is a modern cadmium-based collodion designed for producing tintypes, ambrotypes, and glass negatives. Its carefully balanced formula delivers excellent sensitivity, broad tonal range, and reliable results throughout its working life.

Stored in a cool, dark place, UVP X maintains excellent working characteristics for 6–12 months, allowing photographers to work with confidence from the first plate to the last.

The slightly elevated bromide content produces rich tonal separation that is especially well suited for portraiture, while the image develops with excellent visibility, making it easier to judge development and consistently produce beautiful plates.

  • Excellent stability with a 6–12 month working life
  • Rich tonal range optimized for portraits

    Collodilon

This is my new "favorite" collodion recipe...It seems a bit thin when you first open it. I have previously used thicker formulas, so I have taken to mixing the last of the old bottle with the "new" bottle. Brian explained that he intentionally makes this recipe a bit thinner to avoid "crepe" or "crappy lines"....(which I sometimes had problems with when mixing my own collodion). There is also some natural "thickening" that occurs with evaporation. Great contrast and seems to have a decent shelf life.

This is a very good and fast collodion. I am able to photograph in the studio with only 1600 watt/sec of light (4 Paul C Buff strobes). I will definitely buy this product again.
