Our Wet Plate Collodion Starter Kits have all the chemistry you will need to start making plates.  Our chemistry is consistent and easy to use.  We offer choices of collodion, varnish and developer.  Our recommendation is:  UVP-4 Collodion for ease of development and stability, Iron Potassium Nitrate Developer, and Light Shellac Varnish

The kit contains:

9% Silver Bath - pH adjusted & iodized - (500mL Small kit, 1000mL Large Kit)

Premixed Collodion of your choice - (225mL Small kit, 450mL Large Kit) 

Developer your choice- (500mL Small kit, 1000mL Large Kit)

Rapid Fixer - (500mL Small kit, 1000mL Large Kit)

Varnish of your choice-  (240mL Small kit, 480mL Large Kit)

3 - Erlenmeyer Flasks with stoppers (1 for pouring collodion, 2 for varnishing)

1 - Small Beaker - For developer

    Got me started with wet plate photography

    I don't have access to a class in the local area and have been working on learning wet plate photography online and through books. It was at times all very intimidating but this kit had all the chemicals I needed to get started and eliminated a huge number of variables that could have caused it all to go wrong. I was considering mixing my own going forward but will likely try to maintain my silver bath and continue purchasing the rest of the chemicals pre-mixed from uvphotographics.

    This starter kit is great. It provides just what you need to get started. I personally would like some paperwork with the starter kit, like a simple instruction booklet or a pdf link, but all in all HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
